Service Austria: Research and Industry Dissemination

The overall mission of SARID is to foster the Semantically Enabled Service-Oriented Architecture (SESA) revolution on a worldwide scale. In order to move towards fulfilling this mission, SARID plans to coordinate and organize a comprehensive inventory of dissemination activities which will be designed to strengthen the research community working on semantic systems and services and to speed up the uptake of the technology at the industry level.

In this deliverable, we propose the dissemination plan which will be carried out by SARID over the 18 month duration of the project. This plan involves the organization of specially focused conferences, workshops and tutorials for raising awareness and facilitating adoption of the technology in industry, as well as strengthening and growing the research community working on solving open issues and bringing the technology to maturity. Furthermore, a Web site specifically created for the project will help raise its presence and promote the dissemination activities.

Through this dissemination plan, SARID will pave the way to realize a world where billions of parties are exposing and consuming services via advanced Web technology.

The SARID project will organize and actively support and promote dissemination targeted at bith academia and industry audience groups. Dissemination contains activities that are indirect training activities, where knowledge is exchanged between different groups. In SARID these indirect training activities are:

  • Conferences and workshops. On the basis of long standing collaborations with major organizations in the field, we will organize several conferences and workshops with the purpose of fostering knowledge exchange and co-operation among researchers in the community of Semantic Web Services, for ensuring the visibility of the research topics covered beyond the boundaries of this community, for technology transfer and research-industry co-operation.
  • Industry fairs. We will also organize at least one industry fair per calendar year with the intention of enabling a focused knowledge transfer from academia to industry and for promoting the state of the art of Semantic Web Services technology and prototypes.
