STI International PhD of the Year 2012: Call for Nominations

Announcement to be made during ESWC 2012 May 27-31, Crete, Greece

The PhD of the Year competition will be organized according to the steps below.

STI Partners and Members are cordially invited to submit proposals for the PhD of the Year no later than April 15th 2012. Every STI related organization is allowed to propose at most 2 candidates for the STI PhD of the Year 2012. Entitled to be proposed are PhD candidates who defended their PhD thesis in 2011.

Proposals should include:

• a letter of endorsement of the proposer,
• a short scientific CV of the nominee, and
• an abstract of his/her work of maximally 1000 words.

Applications should be submitted as PDF documents by email to office@sti2.org.

The reviewing committee will evaluate the proposals and select 3 finalists no later than May 7th, 2012 and these will be announced on the STI International website. The eventual winner will be announced in the ESWC closing ceremony.

The reviewing committee is composed of a number of the STI Fellows (including Michael Brodie, Mark Greaves, Jim Hendler and Rudi Studer), the STI President (John Domingue) and the STI Treasurer (Grigoris Antoniou). The committee will evaluate the submissions according to the criteria of the originality of the thesis and the scientific and non-scientific impact of the resulting work.
