The ESWC2013 PhD Symposium will take place as part of the ESWC 2013 in Montpellier, France. This event aims at providing PhD students with an opportunity for presenting their PhD work, receiving feedback from experienced researchers of the Semantic Web community and for establishing contacts with PhD students from other institutions. We also plan a tutorial on successful scientific paper writing. The symposium is targeted at students doing their PhD in the Semantic Web area or adjacent topics.

ESWC 2013 invites tutorials that address the interests of its varied audience: people new to the Semantic Web, Semantic Web researchers and practitioners that wish to learn new technologies, users of Semantic Web technologies, and representatives of government and funding agencies as well as potential private investors in Semantic Web technologies. We welcome submissions of tutorial proposals on all major topics related to semantic technologies.

The European Data Forum 2012 (EDF2012) is a meeting place for industry, research, policymakers and community initiatives to discuss the challenges of Big Data and the emerging Data Economy and to develop suitable action plans for addressing these challenges. Of special focus within the EDF are Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), since they are driving innovation and competition in many data-driven economic sectors. The range of topics discussed at the European Data Forum ranges from novel data-driven business models (e.g. data clearing houses), over technology innovations (e.g. Linked Data Web) to societal aspects (e.g. open governmental data as well as data privacy and security).
