STI Research has as its goal making semantics part of everyday life.

It pursues this goal by a range of activities including proposal development, project management, industry consultancy and technology transfer, and commercialisation of research results, with a particular focus on supporting the international network of leading semantic technology research institutions and companies which are members of the STI association. It also actively undertakes its own research work to integrate semantic technology into emerging fields such as mobile and multimedia applications, with the goal of both developing semantics-based services and applications with commercial value, as well as strengthening its capacity to offer consultancy and technology advice (roadmapping, white papers) around semantic solutions for these emerging fields.
