Concept of STI Off-Site
The STI off-site is meant as a unique annual event to support the building of the international STI community and to strengthen established relationships between the members. It gives individual STI members from different countries and institutions the opportunity to get together in an inspiring environment and to shape the future development of STI and its operation.
The off-site is organized as a two days event and covers a mixture of technical and networking activities, as well as invited talks on topics of general interest. The result is a generally improved understanding and acceptance of the overall mission and objectives of STI by the various members, a naturally evolving corporate identity of the network as well as established relationships and collaborations between individual STI members.
The STI off-site 2008 will be organized in Tenerife and will be co-located with the 5th European Semantic Web Conference. It is expected that the next meetings will follow the same scheme in order to reduce the travel overhead of the participants and to manage traveling costs economically.

Off-Site team
The team for 2008 consists of Ilona Zaremba, who will take care of organizational issues (travel planning, accommodation) and Elena Simperl, who will be in charge to plan and run the event.
